The Ghana national football team, the Black Stars have suffered a major setback following back-to-back international defeats, leading to the dismissal of head coach Otto Addo.
TheGhana Football Association (GFA) confirmed in an official statement that it has parted ways with Otto Addo with immediate effect, just hours after Ghana’s 2–1 loss to Germany on Monday, March 30.
The decision follows another earlier defeat to Austria, raising concerns over the team’s recent form and overall performance on the international stage.
In its statement, the GFA thanked Otto Addo for his dedication and service to the national team, acknowledging his role in leading Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but indicated that a new direction is now necessary.
“The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the statement noted.
The Black Stars’ recent performances have come under intense scrutiny from fans and analysts, with calls growing for changes in the technical team.
The GFA says it will soon announce the next steps regarding the technical leadership of the team as Ghana looks to rebuild and regain its competitive strength ahead of the World Cup in the USA.
