The School Celebrates Academic Excellence, Leadership and Appeals for Support to Reroof Old Classroom Block.
Kumawu St. Martin’s R/C Primary School has successfully held its Maiden Graduation and Induction Ceremony under the theme: “Celebrating Our First Graduation: Honouring Achievement, Inspiring Leadership and Building Brighter Futures.” The historic event, held on Thursday, 23rd July 2026 at Kumawu, brought together education authorities, traditional leaders, clergy, parents, old students, and members of the community to celebrate academic achievement and leadership development.
The Headteacher, Mr. Owusu Agyekum Marfo in his welcome address, described the occasion as a significant milestone in the school’s history. He expressed profound appreciation to the Ghana Education Service, the Catholic Church, the School Management Committee (SMC), the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), traditional authorities, parents, and other stakeholders for their unwavering support towards the growth of the school.
Mr. Marfo highlighted the school’s remarkable achievements, including winning the 69th Independence Day Celebration Competition, the Primary Boys’ Volleyball Championship, and recording an impressive performance in the recent Reading Competition. He encouraged the graduating pupils to remain focused on their education while urging the newly inducted prefects to lead with honesty, humility, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility.
The Special Guest of Honour, Nana Akwasi Agyekumhene (Kumawu Kyidomhene) commended the Headteacher and staff for organizing the maiden graduation ceremony, describing it as a historic achievement for the school. He praised the teachers for their dedication and urged them to continue instilling discipline and good moral values in the pupils. Nana Akwasi Agyekumhene also congratulated the school for winning the Independence Day Celebration Competition in both 2025 and 2026, and appealed to parents, philanthropists, old pupils, and community members to support the school’s reroofing project by donating roofing sheets and other building materials.
The Chairman for the occasion, Mr. Eric Oppong, Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the Kumawu District and a former teacher of the school for fifteen years, commended parents for their continuous support and encouraged the PTA to remain committed to the school’s development. He congratulated both the KG2 and Primary Six graduates and urged them to continue learning diligently to build a solid foundation for future success.
The Assembly Member for Kumawu Ahenboboano Electoral Area, Hon. Michael Adu Gyamfi, pledged one packet of roofing sheets towards the reroofing of the old classroom block and encouraged the graduates to remain committed to their studies. In a similar gesture, the SMC Chairman and the PTA Executives jointly donated two packets of roofing sheets to support the school’s infrastructure project.
The Local Manager of the school, Rev. Fr. Martin Appiah Gyimah, congratulated the graduating pupils and the newly inducted prefects for reaching an important milestone. He reminded the graduates that true success comes through hard work, honesty, discipline, respect, and faith in God. Addressing the prefects, he described leadership as a sacred responsibility, urging them to serve with integrity, compassion, and humility while becoming role models to their colleagues. He also made a passionate appeal to philanthropists, NGOs, corporate organisations, old pupils, and friends of education to support the reroofing of the old classroom block to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for the pupils. He concluded with prayers for God’s blessings upon the pupils, teachers, parents, and all stakeholders.
The SMC Chairman, Mr. Anthony Adu Poku applauded the teachers for their teamwork and commended the Headteacher, Mr. Agyekum Marfo, for the positive transformation the school has experienced since assuming office in 2023. He appealed to parents not to transfer their brilliant Primary Six graduates to other schools, emphasizing that the school’s Junior High School has competent teachers capable of nurturing them to greater heights. He also reaffirmed the SMC’s commitment to supporting the school’s continuous development.
The ceremony also witnessed generous support from stakeholders towards the school’s infrastructure project. Hon. The programme featured a variety of exciting performances, including poetry recital, choreography, news casting, Adowa and Sikyi cultural dances, graduation of KG2 and Primary Six pupils, talent exhibitions, induction of newly elected prefects, Kete dance, Mr. R/C competition, and Face of R/C (Miss R/C). The performances showcased the creativity, confidence, and diverse talents of the pupils, making the event memorable for all attendees.
The historic maiden graduation and induction ceremony ended with renewed commitment from parents, teachers, traditional leaders, and stakeholders to continue supporting the growth and development of Kumawu St. Martin’s R/C Primary School. The event not only celebrated academic excellence and leadership but also strengthened the collective resolve to provide a safer learning environment and build a brighter future for every child.
