Nkawie Senior High Technical School has been placed under a two-year ban from all inter-school (Inter-Co) sporting competitions and regional educational activities following incidents of fighting that marred recent inter-school games.

The decision, communicated by education authorities, comes after investigations confirmed that violent clashes involving students of the school occurred during organised competitions, in clear violation of established codes of conduct governing school sports and student behaviour.
Dr. William Amankra Appiah, the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, speaking on the matter, informed the general public that the sanction goes beyond sports activities. He stated that Nkawie Senior High School is barred from all Regional Education activities throughout the two-year period.

Dr. Appiah further stressed that no SRC Week celebrations or related student union activities will be permitted in the school during the duration of the ban, describing the measure as necessary to restore discipline and reinforce accountability within the school system.
According to education officials, the sanctions are intended not merely as punishment but as a corrective step to remind schools that inter-school competitions and student activities are meant to promote discipline, teamwork and character development, not violence or disorder.
Authorities expressed concern that repeated incidents of misconduct at school events undermine the educational value of extracurricular activities and endanger students, officials and the general public. They emphasised that discipline remains central to holistic education.

The management of Nkawie Senior High School has been directed to strengthen internal disciplinary mechanisms and intensify education on conflict resolution, sportsmanship and responsible student leadership. Officials noted that reinstatement after the ban will depend on clear evidence of sustained behavioural reform.
Education stakeholders have also called on parents and guardians to work closely with school authorities, stressing that student conduct during public events often reflects values reinforced both at home and in school.
