JUST IN: Bodomase Circuit Educators Workshop on Lesson Planning by Sekyere Kumawu Education Directorate

In a bold move to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, the Sekyere Kumawu Education Directorate organized a transformative one day workshop on the Common Core Program, which focused on effective lesson notes preparation. Held on February 20, 2025, at the Bodomase Methodist Chapel, the event brought together a remarkable number of dedicated teachers and headteachers from the Bodomase Circuit, all eager to refine their instructional skills.

Presiding over the event was the District Education Director, Mr. Kwame Oduro-Owusu whose inspirational address highlighted the power of strategic lesson planning in delivering impactful education. He emphasized the Directorate’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation in teaching.

The workshop was strategically designed to cater for the unique needs of educators, with comprehensive sessions that delved into advanced pedagogical strategies. At the forefront of the training was Mr. Peter Anyemadu, a veteran educator and current School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for Kumawu Circuit, who meticulously guided participants through the nuances of lesson note preparation. His insights into selecting Teacher Learner Resources (TLRs) that resonate with diverse classroom environments were particularly impactful.

Adding to the event’s indepth, Mr. Ebenezer Offeh, the Training Officer of Sekeyere Kumawu Education Directorate, delivered an enlightening session on learner inclusivity. He passionately advocated for teaching approaches that embrace every student, irrespective of their abilities, appearance, or background. His call for inclusive education echoed throughout the room which inspired educators to champion diversity in their classrooms.  The workshop also witnessed the influential presence of Mr. Shadrack Sarpong, popularly known as “JAH ALMIGHTY,” the Circuit SISO, who played an important role in coordinating the sessions. With seamless IT support from Mr. Francis Diedong, the program maintained a dynamic and engaging flow and ensuring all participants stayed connected and involved.

The programme started at exactly 1:00 pm. Educators were immersed in interactive sessions with the focus on exploring the various methods within the Common Core Program. The highlight of the event was the rigorous focus on lesson note preparation which is a critical tool for effective teaching delivery.  The Bodomase Methodist Chapel buzzed with enthusiasm and collaboration as educators exchanged ideas, experiences, and strategies. By the end of the session at 3:42 pm, the teachers were not only better equipped but also deeply inspired to elevate the standard of education within their communities.

This impactful workshop was a testament to the Sekyere Kumawu Education Directorate’s commitment to educational excellence. Through strategic initiatives like this, the Directorate continues to empower teachers, shape future leaders, and build a resilient educational system.
