Millions of Ghanaians to Watch FIFA World Cup 2026 Matches Free on Selected Television Stations
The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), with the support of the Government of Ghana, has secured the exclusive terrestrial (Free-to-Air) broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ tournament, ensuring that millions of Ghanaians can watch the global football spectacle at no cost.

In a press release issued on 10th June 2026, GBC announced the formation of a National Broadcast Consortium to facilitate nationwide coverage of the tournament. The consortium was established at the request of the Government of Ghana and is designed to maximize access through a shared technical, marketing, and broadcasting framework.
According to GBC, the initiative forms part of the government’s commitment to making the tournament accessible to all Ghanaians, particularly as the nation follows the journey of the Black Stars on the world stage.

Under the arrangement, several television stations across the country have been officially authorized to broadcast FIFA World Cup 2026 matches. The approved broadcasters include GTV, GTV Sports+, Garden City TV, Obonu TV, Adom TV, Joy Prime, GHOne TV, Agoo TV, Metro TV, Original TV, TV3, Onua TV, Max TV, Sporty TV, Woezor TV, and UTV.
GBC further announced that radio stations interested in airing World Cup matches must obtain a sub-license from the Corporation. The broadcaster emphasized that unauthorized radio broadcasts of the tournament are strictly prohibited and may attract sanctions.
The Corporation also highlighted significant commercial opportunities connected to the tournament. Businesses and organizations are being encouraged to take advantage of sponsorship, advertising, and digital engagement packages being offered through the Ghana TV Consortium to reach millions of viewers nationwide.
Meanwhile, GBC, FIFA, and New World TV have issued a strong warning against unauthorized broadcasting, streaming, public viewing exhibitions, rebroadcasting, or commercial distribution of World Cup content. The consortium stated that it will actively monitor television, digital, and social media platforms throughout the tournament and take legal action against any individual or organization found violating broadcasting rights.

The FIFA World Cup 2026™, expected to be one of the most-watched sporting events in history, will now be accessible to football fans across Ghana through the authorized television partners, bringing the excitement of the tournament directly into homes nationwide.
“The Government’s support has ensured that every Ghanaian will have the opportunity to follow the FIFA World Cup 2026 and cheer on the Black Stars through free-to-air television coverage.”
