The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the commencement of the 2026 Inter-Regional and Inter/Intra-District Re-Posting exercise for teaching and non-teaching staff across the country.

In a circular dated June 3, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, GES Management stated that the annual re-posting process has begun, with the procedures and requirements for obtaining assurance remaining unchanged.

According to the schedule released by GES, the issuance of assurances to eligible applicants commenced on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and will end on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Staff seeking transfers are therefore encouraged to begin the process early to avoid delays.

The Service further indicated that the processing of Inter-Regional re-posting applications from the regions will take place from June 17 to June 30, 2026. Meanwhile, the final deadline for processing all Inter-Regional and Inter/Intra-District re-postings is August 31, 2026.

GES noted that approvals for successful applications will take effect from the beginning of the next academic year in September 2026. Regional offices have also been directed to submit processed Inter-Regional documents promptly to Headquarters to facilitate faster approval.

Management has instructed Regional Directors to compile and forward the list of all staff who have been granted assurance to the Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD) Secretariat at GES Headquarters in Accra.

Importantly, GES emphasized that no staff member seeking re-posting can be released from their current station until the Director-General has approved the application and officially issued a re-posting letter to the applicant.

The announcement is expected to bring relief to many teachers and education workers who have been awaiting the opening of the 2026 transfer window to relocate for personal, family, health, or professional reasons.

“A staff seeking re-posting can only be released after the Director-General has approved and issued out a re-posting letter to the applicant.”
