His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana, officially commissioned the newly constructed School Junction–Borteyman–Tema Motorway Road in Borteyman, Greater Accra Region, on Monday, August 26, 2024.
The project, spanning 5.8 kilometers, will serve as a dual carriageway of playing a crucial role in linking various communities within the area. During the commissioning, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the road’s importance in improving access to key destinations and ensuring the smoother movement of both people and goods, thereby enhancing economic growth and development.
President Akufo-Addo recounted on the numerous challenges faced by commuters traveling between Tema, Borteyman, School Junction, Ashale Botwe, Adentan, and surrounding areas before the road’s construction. These challenges were particularly pronounced during the rainy season, when certain sections of the road became impassable, causing delays and difficulties for road users. The President expressed his satisfaction that these issues have now been resolved, attributing the improvement to the timely intervention of his administration.

The newly constructed road incorporates several key features designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and convenience for all users. President Akufo-Addo highlighted the inclusion of service lanes on both sides of the carriageway, as well as a 1.60-kilometer access road leading to the recently completed Borteyman Sports Complex.
Additionally, the road is equipped with slip roads that connect to the Tema Motorway, providing seamless integration with the region’s broader transportation network. The construction also includes dedicated walkways, cycling lanes, lay-bys, and streetlights, all aimed at improving the overall experience for commuters and ensuring the road’s long-term sustainability.
President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that the new road would significantly reduce traffic congestion, enhance accessibility, and contribute to the overall development and growth of Ghana.
