GES Assures Placement for All Qualified BECE Candidates Into SHS and Technical Schools

The Ghana Education Service has assured the public that all qualified candidates who sat for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be placed into Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.

In a statement dated 14th May 2026, GES congratulated all Junior High School graduates for successfully completing the BECE and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring continuous access to secondary education for every qualified student.

According to the statement, comprehensive preparations have already been made to receive fresh students into Senior High and Technical Schools nationwide beginning 18th September, 2026.

GES further dismissed reports circulating in sections of the media suggesting that about 72,000 students risk not being placed into schools. Management described such reports as speculative and urged the public to disregard them.

The Service explained that adequate infrastructure and facilities have been put in place to accommodate all qualified students, stressing that no eligible candidate will be denied access to secondary education.

Management also assured stakeholders that ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system would not negatively affect student placement. Instead, GES believes the move will improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining full access to education.

The statement reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to equitable, inclusive, and quality education for every Ghanaian child and called on parents, teachers, and stakeholders to support the national educational agenda.

The release was signed by Daniel Fenyi on behalf of Management.
