The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for immediate action on the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal, warning that abandoning the project at this stage could lead to a waste of public funds and undermine investor confidence in Ghana’s infrastructure agenda.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, led by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the Asantehene expressed deep concern over the slow pace of work on the project.

He stressed that delays could send negative signals to both local and international investors, urging stakeholders to show renewed commitment and urgency in completing the project.

Otumfuo emphasised that visible progress and consistent funding are essential in attracting serious investment. According to him, stalled or abandoned projects weaken trust in Ghana’s ability to deliver on major infrastructure commitments.
The Boankra Inland Port, he noted, remains a strategic national asset with the potential to transform the country’s logistics sector. It is expected to reduce congestion at the Tema Harbour, improve cargo handling efficiency, and support trade expansion.
He further highlighted the project’s importance in job creation and regional economic development, particularly in the Ashanti Region and beyond.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II concluded by urging all relevant authorities to act decisively to ensure the successful completion of the project, stressing that Ghana cannot afford to let such a critical initiative fail.
