The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in partnership with AngloGold Ashanti, has begun the distribution of NaCCA-approved Career Technology materials to Junior High School (JHS) students. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the quality of education in the Ashanti Region, particularly in public schools.
The distribution is scheduled to take place from Monday, October 1, 2024, to Thursday, October 4, 2024. The materials will be distributed to public JHS schools in the Obuasi Municipal area, Obuasi East District, and some select schools in the Adansi North and Amansie Central Districts.
According to reports, approximately 12,090 NaCCA-approved Career Technology Teaching and Learning Materials, including Graph Boards and Geometric Sets, are being provided to schools in and around Obuasi. These resources, which are specifically designed for JHS pupils, are intended to support the teaching of Career Technology, a subject that plays a crucial role in developing students’ practical skills in technology and engineering fields. The materials are being distributed as part of the collaborative efforts of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation and AngloGold Ashanti, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving education in the region.
Exclusive findings by GH Educate revealed that, over the years, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation has worked with various agencies and individuals to provide educational resources to schools in the Ashanti Region. From 2022 to 2024 alone, the foundation, in partnership with AngloGold Ashanti and other entities, has distributed approximately 122,980 textbooks and other teaching and learning materials to schools across the region.
The focus of the foundation’s educational interventions is to improve teaching and learning, particularly in the areas of literacy and numeracy, at the foundational levels. The Career Technology materials being distributed are a critical part of this effort, as they provide students with the tools they need to develop essential skills for their future careers.
This initiative aligns with the foundation’s broader educational goals, as it continues to work toward empowering young people through access to quality education.
