The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) was introduced in 2005 as an initiative by the Ministry of Education to bring transparency, efficiency, and fairness to the placement of Junior High School (JHS) graduates into Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High/Technical Schools (SHTS), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) introduced the CSSPS as an intervention intended to expand access and improve the quality of education in Ghana.

The CSSPS replaced the manual selection system by using the actual grades of prospective candidates, thereby addressing the challenges associated with the previous placement process.
