President Mahama Swears in Seven Justices of the Supreme Court

H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has sworn in seven (7) Justices of the Supreme Court. The swearing-in ceremony was held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in Accra.

In a brief address, President Mahama congratulated the seven Justices on their appointment to Ghana’s highest court. He indicated that their elevation to this high office reflects the trust and confidence that he and the good people of Ghana have in them. He appealed to the newly appointed Justices to serve with the interests of the people of Ghana at heart.

The President stressed that Ghanaians have high expectations, especially at a time when the government is pursuing an agenda to reset, renew, and rebuild the nation.

The seven Justices are as follows:

  • Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh
  • Justice Philip Bright Mensah
  • Justice Janapare Adzua Bartels-Kodwo
  • Justice Hafisata Amaleboba
  • Justice Senyo Dzamefe
  • Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei
  • Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo

His Lordship Justice Senyo Dzamefe expressed his gratitude on behalf of the seven Justices to the President and the people of Ghana for the trust and confidence reposed in them to serve in Ghana’s highest court. He promised that they would perform their duties with the interests of the people at heart, without bias or favour.

“You have been called to this high office because of your vast experience and deep knowledge of the law. This must be exercised with fairness, impartiality, integrity, and courage,” the President stated.
