The Ghanaian government has announced plans to reduce the passport application fee from ¢500 to ¢350.

This announcement was made by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region.

Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa emphasized that the cost of applying for a 32-page ordinary passport will be reduced from ¢500 to ¢350. He stated that this initiative is part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s campaign promises, and they remain committed to fulfilling it for the benefit of Ghanaians.

He also criticized the previous government for implementing an over 400% increase in passport application fees, which sparked concerns among citizens.

The Minister further noted that this reduction will help ease the financial burden on applicants and make passports more accessible to the general public.
