President John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for the construction of the 73.6-kilometre Cape Coast–Takoradi Dualisation Road Project.
The President indicated that the project forms part of the government’s Big Push Initiative and is expected to be completed within two years.
H.E. Mahama revealed that the dualisation project involves the construction of a dual carriageway with nine interchanges, ten bridges, fifteen footbridges and underpasses, twenty kilometres of service roads, a rest stop, and an axle-weigh station.

According to President Mahama, the project will significantly improve travel time by up to 40% between Cape Coast and Takoradi. It will also enhance road safety and reduce the frequent occurrence of accidents.
He further emphasized that the project will improve access to the Takoradi Port, boost trade and logistics within the Western Region, promote tourism along the corridor, and create about 2,000 direct and 6,000 indirect jobs to support local employment and economic empowerment.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, assured Ghanaians that all contractors participating in the Big Push Initiative have undergone orientation and are well-positioned to deliver some of the best road projects ever witnessed in the country.
