The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic crash of a Ghana Armed Forces helicopter that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two serving government ministers.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party described the incident as not only a devastating blow to the families of the deceased but also a national tragedy. The statement acknowledged the dedication and service of the victims, who were on duty serving the country at the time of the crash.
“We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. No words can truly capture the anguish of this moment,” the NPP said. “We pray that the Almighty God grants them comfort and strength during this excruciatingly difficult period.”
The party has called for a “thorough, transparent, and swift investigation” into the cause of the crash, stressing that the dignity of those lost demands answers and accountability to ensure such a tragedy never occurs again.
In the spirit of national unity, the NPP urged Ghanaians to stand together in grief and offer support to the affected families. “Let us come together in unity, prayer, and compassion. Let us console and strengthen one another,” the statement added.
The victims, who include Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six others, were en route to Obuasi when their Z9 military helicopter went missing and was later found crashed in Adansi Akrofuom.

Flags are flying at half-mast across the country, with preparations underway for official funeral arrangements.
“May the souls of these eight heroes rest in perfect peace until the last day of the Resurrection,” the NPP concluded.
