The Ghana Education Service (GES) has formally directed all Heads of Schools across the country to begin immediate implementation of the President’s directive on the full reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in pre-tertiary schools.
This follows a recent directive issued by President John Dramani Mahama aimed at revitalizing PTAs nationwide to promote greater collaboration between parents and school management in support of educational development.
In an official circular dated 16th July 2025 and signed by the Acting Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, all Regional Directors of Education have been tasked to ensure that Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors, along with heads of public Senior High/Technical and STEM schools, are informed and prepared to comply.

“In due course, Management will issue further guidelines on the modalities for implementation, including the structure, roles, and financial accountability mechanisms of the reinstated PTAs to ensure consistency across all schools,” the statement read.
The letter, which has also been copied to key stakeholders including the Ministry of Education and the Office of the President, emphasizes the importance of a unified national framework for PTA operations moving forward.
