A delegation from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) paid a courtesy visit to Her Excellency, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana (VEEP), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to congratulate and commend her government for a peaceful transition of power.

The meeting was held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, with representatives from UNICEF, who expressed admiration for Ghana’s thriving democracy and shared their optimism for the government’s Reset Agenda.

The UNICEF representatives also raised concerns about the persistent deprivation gaps affecting vulnerable populations and suggested ways both parties could collaborate to address them and strengthen their partnership further.

In response, Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang thanked them for their partnership and acknowledged both the progress and complexities of Ghana’s democratic journey. She emphasized that poverty and deprivation lie at the root of many challenges and stressed the need for fundamental economic solutions to uplift livelihoods, thereby creating a ripple effect on child welfare and social protection.

“To ensure accountability and measurable progress, I requested regular impact reports on UNICEF’s initiatives,” stated Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
