President John Dramani Mahama has issued a firm directive to all his appointees, urging them to declare their assets in compliance with Ghana’s legal requirements.
This announcement follows his own submission of completed Asset Declaration Forms to the Auditor-General on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. As a way of leading by example, Mr. Mahama aims to reinforce the importance of transparency and accountability in governance.
The President stressed that asset declaration by public officeholders is a legal obligation under Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution and the Public Office Holders (Declaration of Assets and Disqualifications) Act, 1998 (Act 550).
Mr. Mahama, therefore, stressed that all his appointees must declare their assets by March 31, 2025. He emphasized that this exercise is a crucial step toward combating corruption and enhancing public confidence in government officials.
According to the President, fostering transparency and accountability in public service is essential to curbing the growing concerns of corruption in the country. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding ethical governance and urged all appointees to comply fully with the directive.
