11-Member Committee on Double Track System

Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, has inaugurated an 11-member committee to oversee the reversal of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) Double Track system.

Members present at the event included Mr. Clement Apaak, Deputy Minister for Education; Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES); Professor George K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Minister; the Chief Director of the Ministry of Education (MoE); as well as management and directors of GES and MoE, among others.

The 11-member committee was chaired by Prof. Peter Grant of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and included representatives from various institutions, including:

  • Prof. Godwin Awabil, University of Cape Coast (UCC)
  • Prof. Samuel A. Atintono, PRINCOF
  • Prof. Smile Gavua Dzisi (Mrs.), Deputy Director-General (Management Services), GES
  • Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, Deputy Director-General (Quality and Access), GES
  • D. W. Agbenyo, WAEC
  • Rosemond Wilson (PhD), WAEC
  • Mr. Augustus Agyemfra, CODE
  • Mr. David Odjidja, CHASS
  • Addo Nicholas Nii Kpakpoe, COHBS
  • Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, Schools & Instructions Division, GES

According to reports, the committee’s mandate includes reviewing the 2024/2025 academic calendar, realigning the WASSCE calendar with other West African countries, and providing a roadmap for transitioning the SHS/SHSTS double-track system back to a single-track system.
