President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Hon. James Gyekye Quayson, Member of Parliament for Assin North, as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
This nomination reflects the President’s confidence in Hon. Quayson’s ability to serve Ghana on the global stage and contribute meaningfully to the country’s foreign policy agenda. Known for his resilience and dedication to public service, Hon. Quayson has won the admiration of many Ghanaians for his steadfast commitment to his constituency and to democratic values.

In a brief statement, the Office of the President described the nomination as a strategic decision aimed at strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic relations and reinforcing the country’s presence on international platforms.
If approved by Parliament, Hon. James Gyekye Quayson will support the Minister in promoting regional cooperation, economic diplomacy, and global partnerships that align with Ghana’s development goals.
The nomination also represents a powerful moment of recognition for Hon. Quayson, he has become a household name after a protracted legal battle surrounding his parliamentary legitimacy, which ended in his overwhelming re-election in the 2023 by-election.
Alongside his nomination, the President also announced three additional deputy ministerial nominees:
Hon. Dorcas Toffey, MP – Deputy Minister for Transport.
Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, MP – Deputy Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation.
Hon. Grace Ayensu Danquah, MP – Deputy Minister for Health.
