Aspiring prefects of Bodomase St. Stephen R/C Junior High School took to the stage on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, to present their manifestos to the school community ahead of the school’s official student leadership elections.
The school is set to go to the polls on Thursday, 5 June, as students elect new prefects to lead the student body for the 2025/2026 academic year. The Electoral Commission, led by Miss Patience Ethan, supervised the manifesto presentations and outlined the various positions available, ranging from senior prefect roles to sports and discipline officers.

Speaking at the event, Miss Ethan advised the electorate to vote wisely and reject all forms of vote buying or manipulation. “Choose leaders who have the ability to serve and not just to rule,” she urged. She also commended the candidates for demonstrating courage and leadership through their speeches.
The following positions are being contested:
Senior Boys Prefect
Senior Girls Prefect
Boys Discipline Prefect
Girls Discipline Prefect
Boys Compound Overseer
Girls Compound Overseer
Boys Sports Prefect
Girls Sports Prefect

The Assistant Headmaster, Mr. Isaac Owusu Amankwaah also addressed the students, encouraging them to elect leaders who will represent their interests, promote discipline, and uphold the values of the school.

One of the highlights of the day was the interactive session, where the student electorate posed questions to the candidates after their manifesto presentations – testing their readiness, vision, and understanding of leadership.
The school, widely recognised as a pioneer in innovation at the basic school level, will once again be using its Electronic Voting System developed in-house by the Headmaster, Mr. Jude Owusu Brefo. He assured all candidates and the student body that the system remains secure, transparent, and trusted.

“This school has successfully used electronic voting for over five years, and it has always produced free, fair, and peaceful elections,” he noted. “I commend the Electoral Commission and staff for the smooth preparations so far.”
As students prepare to cast their votes on Thursday, the mood on campus is one of anticipation and enthusiasm. The electoral process not only serves as a leadership platform but also a hands-on civic learning experience for students at Bodomase St. Stephen R/C JHS.
