The US Embassy in Accra approved just over 25,000 visa applications out of more than 61,000 submitted in 2025, highlighting a competitive and rigorous screening process for Ghanaians seeking entry into the United States.
The figure represents an approval rate of approximately 41%, covering various categories including visitor (B1/B2), student (F1), and work (H-1B) visas.
In a statement, embassy officials encouraged applicants to ensure they meet eligibility requirements, maintain transparency, and present strong ties to Ghana when applying. They also reiterated that each case is assessed individually under US immigration laws.
This development comes at a time when demand for travel, study, and work opportunities in the US remains high among Ghanaians. Despite the high volume of rejections, officials say the embassy is committed to maintaining open and fair access to its visa services.
