Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson has been re-appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for a second term of two years, effective 1st August 2024. This announcement was made through an official letter from the Office of the Registrar of KNUST on Thursday, 20th June 2024, addressed to the Management, Staff, Students of KNUST, and the general public.
The letter stated that the University Council, during its 282nd (Regular) Meeting held on Thursday, 20th June 2024, approved the recommendations of the Committee set up by the Council to evaluate the application for the renewal of the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment. After careful deliberation and consideration of Professor Dickson’s exemplary leadership and contributions to the university, the Council endorsed her re-appointment for another two-year term.
Professor Rita Akosua Dickson’s initial appointment as Vice-Chancellor of KNUST commenced on 1st August 2020, and her first term is expected to conclude on 31st July 2024. Her re-appointment will thus begin on 1st August 2024 and extend until 31st July 2026. This decision demonstrates the University Council’s confidence in her ability to continue steering KNUST towards greater achievements and sustained excellence.
Professor Akosua Dickson’s leadership has seen significant improvements in various facets of the university, including infrastructure development, academic programs, and student support services.
