North Eastern University (NEU) in Gombe, Nigeria, has named its newly built ultramodern multimedia studio after Ghanaian investigative journalist and lawyer, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The announcement was made during a one-day International Conference on Trends in Investigative Journalism in Northern Nigeria, organized by WikkiTimes, NEU, and the Tiger Eye Foundation Ghana.

The Anas Aremeyaw Anas Multimedia Studio is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced audio and video production tools, including professional recording equipment, high-performance computers for animation and photography, virtual reality labs, and motion capture technology for digital storytelling.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Anas described the honor as a step toward inspiring fearless journalists. He emphasized the importance of journalism in serving the public good, stating that investigative reporting should focus on uplifting communities and exposing corruption.
NEU’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Sani Jauro, expressed pride in naming the studio after Anas, recognizing his contributions to journalism and the fight against corruption. WikkiTimes Co-Publishers Ajibola Amzat and Haruna Mohammed also reaffirmed their commitment to training investigative journalists who will hold power accountable.
Media scholar and Vice Chancellor of Federal University Kashere, Professor Umaru Pate, highlighted the need for fearless journalists to tackle corruption across various sectors. Other speakers, including Dr. Hamid Adamu Mohammed and Victoria Bamas, underscored the role of investigative journalism in addressing issues in Northern Nigeria, advocating for local language reporting and gender inclusivity in newsrooms.
The commissioning of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas Multimedia Studio marks a major milestone in the development of investigative journalism in the region, providing a cutting-edge facility to train and inspire future journalists.
