Kumawu Otuo Acheampong Memorial Preparatory School hosted Open Day Celebration at the Kumawu Old Police Station, situated behind the Kumawu Lorry Station. The theme for the program was ‘Raising Future Leaders through Technology’.

The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including Madam Anita Yeboah – the Chairperson at the occasion, Dr. Kwabena Duffour’s wife, Mr. Charles Kwadwo Nimo – the Proprietor and Director of the School, Mr. Kwame Owusu-Oduro – the Director of Education for Kumawu District, the PTA Chairman of the School, representatives from Sister Schools, Parents, among others.

It’s worth noting that the school commemorated its 38th anniversary since its establishment.

The Boys & Girls Prefects highlighted the school’s achievements in terms of academic performance in the BECE and other sporting activities. They also mentioned the school’s need for a library and called upon well-wishers to lend their support.

ADDRESS BY THE PROPRIETOR OF THE SCHOOL

 Mr. Charles Kwadwo Nimo, the Proprietor of the school, delivered a compelling address at the event. He spoke about the school’s achievements and expressed gratitude to the invited guests for honoring the school’s invitation. Mr. Nimo also thanked the management and staff of the school. He underscored the challenge of the school’s lack of a library and appealed to the attendees to support the school in establishing one.

 Hon. Samuel Addae Agyekum – the District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu District, addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of education to Kumawu Constituency and the nation at large. He urged the students to remain committed to their education, echoing the theme of the event. Hon. Samuel Addae Agyekum, along with Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim – the Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency (who was absent), supported the program with a donation of 2,000 Ghana cedis and 50 bags of cement.

Mr. Kwame Owusu-Oduro – the Director of Education, also delivered an address at the program. His speech focused on the importance of education and highlighted how Kumawu Otuo Acheampong Memorial Preparatory School consistently excels in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and other activities within the directorate.

SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES DISPLAYED AT THE PROGRAM

 The school choir delivered powerful renditions of Ghanaian songs, such as ‘Hen Ara asaase yi’, reminding everyone present of our collective commitment to building a resilient country.

The program also featured cultural displays, choreography performances, debate, and dancing competitions.

One remarkable activity at the event was Miss Otuo, which was conducted in two categories: Junior and Senior Sessions. Contestants showcased wonderful and eye-catching displays, dressed in Ghanaian attire, answering questions, modeling, and providing brief introductions of themselves. A special awards were given to the winners of the Debate and the Miss Otuo Competitions.

At the program, some deserving and hardworking teachers were awarded, and the best-performing students were also recognized at the event.
