Hon.Emmanuel Opoku, popularly known as Teacher Eightey (80tey), the Assembly Member for the Nkwanta and Temante Electoral Area, has made a generous donation to the Nkwanta and Temante Primary Schools in the Sekyere Kumawu District Education Directorate on Tuesday, 10th September 2024.
The presentation was part of the nationwide ‘My First Day at School’ event, celebrated in Ghana to welcome new students and encourage community involvement in education.
The event was graced by Mr. Farried Ofori, the Presiding Member of the Kumawu District Assembly; Mr. Kwesi Asandor, the Headteacher of Temante Junior High School; Mr. Isaac Nyame, the Headteacher Nkwanta AME Zion JHS; Mr. Sarfo, the Assistant Headteacher of NKwanta AME Zion JHS; and Mr. Nimo Appiah, the Headteacher of Temante Primary School, as well as teachers and students from both Nkwanta and Temante schools.
The items donated by Mr. Opoku included a television set (TV) for Nkwanta KG/Primary school, two ceiling fans for the Temante Kindergarten teachers and pupils, one exercise book each for all the students in Temante JHS, as well as biscuits and drinks for the students of both schools. These contributions were aimed at improving the learning environment and making the first day of school an exciting experience for the children.
In his speech, Mr. Emmanuel Opoku took the opportunity to encourage the teachers, urging them through their headteachers to put in their best of efforts, especially with the commencement of a new academic year. He emphasized the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future of the students and expressed his deep commitment to supporting education within his electoral area.
Mr. Opoku also assured those present that his support for education would continue throughout his tenure as Assembly Member. He stressed the importance of investing in the well-being of students and teachers alike, and pledged to assist in any way possible to improve the quality of education in the Nkwanta and Temante communities.
The headteachers, in response, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Emmanuel Opoku for his generosity. They applauded his continuous efforts to improve the educational facilities and provide for the needs of both students and teachers, and promised to make the most of the donated items for the benefit of the schools.
