Dr. Mimmy Martha Gondwe, the Deputy Minister for Higher Education of South Africa, has paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Minister for Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, at his office in Accra.
The purpose of her visit was to congratulate him and to share insights on the structures and models of the two countries’ education systems, as well as to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration.
During their discussion, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu expressed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations through education and innovation. He stressed the importance of collaboration among African nations in achieving broader goals of access, equity, and quality in education.
He also emphasized the possibility of exchange programs between public tertiary institutions in both countries to promote academic mobility, cultural exchange, and joint research.
Dr. Mimmy Gondwe expressed South Africa’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Ghana in areas aligned with both countries’ educational priorities.
The meeting highlighted potential initiatives aimed at developing strategies for curriculum development, teacher training, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and digital transformation in education for both countries.
