Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), along with his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, have successfully submitted and filed their presidential nomination forms at the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Accra.
The event took place in person, with the two leaders accompanied by other key party officials at the EC’s headquarters.
By submitting their forms, Dr. Bawumia and NAPO have officially declared their intention to contest in the 2024 presidential election in Ghana. This move marks a significant milestone in the NPP’s campaign, as the party aims to “break the eight”—a reference to their hope of retaining power beyond the traditional eight-year cycle, which has seen governments in Ghana alternate between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to the members and supporters of the NPP, as well as the Ghanaian public, for their continued support and prayers in their campaign tour. He also thanked the party’s rank and file members for their immense support and guidance to get them to this stage of the electoral process.
The NPP has been campaigning vigorously across the country, presenting their policies and strategies to the electorate as they seek to secure victory in December 2024.
Dr. Bawumia reiterated his campaign slogan, stating, “With God, it is possible,” a reflection of his optimism and faith in the party’s chances of success in the upcoming election.
