Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, was honored as the Special Guest at the 24th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG). The event, which took place in Abetifi, in the Eastern Region, was under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage: Persisting in Missions.”
In his address, Dr. Bawumia praised the leadership and members of the PCG for their continuous dedication to the nation over the years. He highlighted the church’s significant role in not only nurturing the spiritual well-being of its congregants but also contributing to the broader socio-economic development of Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia urged the PCG and other faith-based organizations to remain rooted in their core values while embracing innovation. He emphasized that in a rapidly changing world, the ability to adapt and meet the spiritual and physical needs of both members and the larger society is crucial.
The Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, expressed his gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for gracing the occasion. He also took the opportunity to offer a prayer for the Vice President, highlighting the spiritual bond between the church and the nation’s leadership.
He acknowledged their invaluable contributions and emphasized the shared goal of building a Ghana where faith, peace, and prosperity flourish. Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with faith-based organizations.
