As Ghana inches closer to its general national elections, pollsters, research experts, prophets, and Imams will begin the usual ritual of predicting the election results, especially of the presidential race.

A recent poll conducted by popular research ‘house’, Global Info Analytics makes very interesting predictions. The research was conducted in five key districts of the Eastern Region of Ghana. In it, Dr. Bawumia leads the Presidential race by 54%. The poll districts are Asuogyaman, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ayensuano, Suhum, and Akwatia, all in the Eastern Region of the country.

Poll Results for the Presidential Race – Global Info Analytics

The poll used the Electoral Commission of Ghana’s 2020 voters’ register as a sample frame. Field interviews were carried out between July 25th and July 31st, 2024, with a sample size of 2,331 registered voters across the five districts.

This results indicates that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is leading the race against former President John Mahama, with a commanding 54% to Mahama’s 31% in the focus areas.

Meanwhile, Alan Kyeremateng is on 8% while Nana Kwame Bediako and the Others gained 6% and 1% respectively.

The report also shed some interesting lights on voters’ opinions about the country’s direction and their personal living standards. It says 58% of voters believe Ghana is headed in the wrong direction, while 29% think it is headed in the right direction.

On the subject of the ever-popular discussion of living standards in Ghana which is on the lips of most Ghanaians lately, the poll says:

38% of voters feel their living standards have worsened compared to a year ago, 27% say it has improved, and 29% report no change.

49% disapprove of the current president’s job performance, while 43% approve.

In addition to the presidential race, the poll provides insights into the Parliamentary elections within the same districts used for the Presidential poll.

It also shares voters’ opinions on the likelihood of changing their minds about their voting intentions between now and December 7th.
