Teachers’ Payroll Audit AT Kumawu-Bodomase Circuit

On Thursday, 12 June 2025 at 2 pm, Auditors visited the Bodomase Circuit as part of a nationwide payroll audit in the Ghana Education Service (GES) for teachers’ headcount. Oversight was provided by senior officials from the Sekyere Kumawu Education Office, including the District Education Director, Mr Kwame  Oduro-Owusu, Mr Peter Anyemadu, SISO for Kumawu West, Mr Ebenezer  Offeh, HOD-HRMD, respectively.

The auditing exercise aligned with a broader government payroll reform initiative aimed at cleansing the system of “ghost names” and ensuring accountability.

In a recent report shared by Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, he appealed to the teacher unions to support this verification exercise as urgent and necessary for fiscal responsibility.

According to the minister, preliminary findings from similar audits have already revealed and removed several ghost names representing a victory for the integrity of the public funds.

Supervisory officers emphasized strict compliance with the schedule to minimize disruption of the exercise and reiterated that the audit offers a dual chance to verify both teacher licenses and payroll records. All stakeholders were reminded to provide full cooperation to safeguard public funds and enhance institutional transparency.
