Schools in Kumawu Hit by Heavy Rainstorm: Many Left Roofless

Several schools under the Kumawu District Education Directorate have been severely affected by a heavy rainstorm that struck on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The unexpected downpour, accompanied by fierce winds, has caused a huge destruction, ripping off the roofs of many schools in the district.

According to reports received by GH Educate, the violent storm left a trail of devastation, impacting institutions such as Kumawu SDA Basic School, Kumawu St. Martin’s RC Primary School, Kumawu Apostolic D/A Basic School, Kumawu Presby Primary School, and Nkwanta AME Zion Primary School. These schools now face major infrastructural challenges, raising concerns about disruptions to academic activities.

Following the incident, the District Director of Education in Kumawu, Mr. Kwame Oduro-Owusu, visited some of the affected schools to assess the extent of the damage. He expressed his concern and assured school authorities of his commitment to supporting them. He also urged them to promptly submit formal reports to the District Assembly and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate a swift intervention and restoration of the damaged structures.

The sad news has also reached the Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim. In response, he issued a statement expressing his empathy and solidarity with the affected schools. He acknowledged the severity of the incident and assured the schools of his immediate response and support to ensure a quick resolution to the crisis.
