NRSA gives 21 days to remove billboards on Accra Flyovers and Overpasses

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has issued a 21-day ultimatum to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region to remove billboards mounted on flyovers and overpasses.

National Road Safety Authority - David Osafo Adonteng, Acting Director-General

The Authority says the billboards are illegal, distract drivers, and pose a serious risk to public safety. Despite earlier warnings, many of the structures still remain in place, prompting this firm deadline.

“These billboards are not just illegal; they are death traps. We will not wait for another accident to act,” said David Osafo Adonteng, Acting Director-General of the NRSA.

He warned that if the Assemblies fail to comply, the NRSA will take legal steps and forcefully remove the billboards.

The directive forms part of a nationwide campaign to reduce road crashes and keep public infrastructure free from dangerous obstructions.
