A man from Kasoa has been arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle hacksaw blades hidden inside a loaf of bread to a prison inmate, in what authorities describe as a carefully planned escape attempt.

According to reports, the suspect, believed to be a herbalist, concealed the blades within an unusually large loaf of bread and attempted to deliver it to an inmate described as an armed robbery suspect. The alleged plan was to enable the inmate to cut through prison bars and escape custody.
However, officers on duty became suspicious upon noticing the unusual size and appearance of the bread. Acting on instinct, they decided to inspect it thoroughly.

Their suspicion proved justified when the bread was cut open, revealing the hidden hacksaw blades concealed inside. The discovery immediately led to the arrest of the suspect.

The Ghana Police Service has since taken the man into custody, and investigations are underway to determine whether others were involved in the attempted operation.
Security experts say the incident highlights the lengths to which some individuals may go to aid criminal activities, as well as the importance of vigilance among security personnel.
Authorities have assured the public that security within correctional facilities remains a top priority and that measures will continue to be strengthened to prevent similar incidents.
