Heavy Security Deployed in Bole Over Youth Protest Against MCE Nomination

Armed police and other security personnel have been deployed to the streets and homes of President John Mahama and Deputy Lands Minister Sulemana Yusif in Bole, Savannah Region, following intense protests by local youth over the nomination of Abdulai Mahmoud as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The youth, who have been burning tyres and storming the Bole District Assembly, are opposing Mahmoud’s appointment, arguing that he is not a native of the area and does not vote in the constituency. According to them, he was not among the names earlier considered or publicly mentioned.

Their anger has also been directed at MP Sulemana Yusif and other leaders, whom they accuse of being behind Mahmoud’s nomination. The situation prompted the deployment of security forces to prevent any escalation.

Tensions have since calmed after security officials engaged with the aggrieved youth, urging restraint and dialogue.
