Kumawu, Ashanti Region – A torrential downpour that hit Kumawu on March 4, 2025, has left several residents counting their losses as strong winds ripped off the roofs of many homes.
The unexpected rainfall, accompanied by fierce winds, caused some serious destruction to properties, leaving some families without shelter.

Residents report that the storm began in the late afternoon of Tuesday, 4th March, 2025, amidst heavy winds tearing through buildings and pulling down electrical poles, and trees.
We were inside when the wind started blowing violently. The the rains begun heavily. We could see the roof our building shaking vigorously.
Within minutes, the roof of our house was gone. Now, we have nowhere to sleep. – a distraught resident told reporters
Another resident who also spoke to our reporter bemoaned:
We are trying to pick the pieces and mend back our roofs but carpenters are even in shortage this morning. Now we don’t even know what to do and our kids cannot go to school.
The full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed, but many affected residents are calling for urgent support from local authorities and disaster relief agencies. No casualties have been reported, but the disruption has left many in distress.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are yet to issue any communique on the disaster. It is expected that authorities will visit and evaluate the situation to provide the needed assistance.
