Ghana’s Health Ministry Reshuffles Principals of Nursing Training Institutions

The Ministry of Health has announced a major reshuffle involving all principals of public health training institutions across the country. The directive, issued through the Director of Human Resource for Health Development (HRHD), Mr. F. Mensah Acheampong, takes effect from 1 August 2025.

The reshuffle, sanctioned by the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, forms part of a broader strategy to optimise institutional leadership and enhance the performance of nursing and midwifery training schools nationwide.

In an official communication, principals have been asked to refer to an attached list for details of their new postings. The ministry said the transfers aim to align with Ghana’s national health workforce development agenda and improve the quality of training in the sector.

“We deeply appreciate your dedication to your current roles and encourage you to approach this new chapter with the same commitment and excellence,” the statement read.

Principals have also been instructed to carry out the necessary handover processes smoothly. The Head of Health Training Institutions (HTI) is on standby to support any principal who may face challenges during the transition.

The Ministry sees this as a crucial step in strengthening healthcare delivery by ensuring effective leadership across all training institutions.
