Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister for Education, has disclosed that the Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially closed its teacher recruitment application portal.
According to him, the recruitment portal was shut after receiving approximately 40,000 applications from prospective teachers across the country. He explained that the overwhelming number of applicants reflects the high level of interest among graduates from Colleges of Education and universities who are eager to join the teaching profession under the GES.
In his address, the Education Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Education secured financial clearance to recruit about 7,000 teachers. He noted that the 40,000 applications received significantly exceeded the available slots, making the selection process highly competitive. This situation, he indicated, highlights the need for careful and transparent screening to ensure that only the most qualified candidates are considered.
Hon. Iddrisu further stated that all applications submitted before the closure of the portal will undergo thorough scrutiny. He assured applicants that the selection process will be fair and merit-based. Out of the total applications received, 7,000 successful candidates will be selected and recruited into the Ghana Education Service, as previously announced by the Ministry.
He encouraged applicants to remain patient and await official communication regarding the outcome of the recruitment process.
