The Minister of Education took moments to highlight Otumfuo’s profound influence, not only within the confines of Asanteman and KNUST as its Chancellor but also across the broader landscape of our nation. He stressed on the remarkable growth and developments that have been witnessed under Otumfuo’s stewardship at KNUST, where the student population has tremendously increased from 8,000 to an astonishing 80,000 – a testament to his exemplary leadership.

Dr. Yaw Adutwum passionately recounted the pivotal roles assumed by the Asantehene in advancing our collective national aspirations, particularly in the domains of education, healthcare, peace-building, and socio-economic development. Moreover, he shed light on the lesser-known yet impactful interventions orchestrated by Otumfuo behind the scenes, which have significantly contributed to the ongoing transformation of our country.

One notable contribution of Otumfuo for KNUST was his instrumental role in securing a crucial Two Hundred Million Dollar ($200m) funding from the World Bank to bolster educational reforms in Ghana – at a crucial moment when this support was uncertain. Even before the introduction of Free Senior High School Policy, Otumfuo’s unwavering commitment to nurturing Ghanaian youth through initiatives like the Otumfuo Charity Foundation provided a lifeline for countless aspiring students.

Dr. Adutwum, fervently extolled the exemplary leadership qualities embodied by His Royal Majesty, who, despite wielding considerable influence, remains remarkably humble in his stewardship. Otumfuo’s ability to exercise power with grace and humility stands as a beacon of inspiration for leaders across all spheres of society, reinforcinging the timeless adage that true greatness is measured not by authority but by service to others.
