The Kumawu Presbyterian church of Ghana, “Sekyere Presbytery” and the entire Kumawu district are reeling from the tragic loss of “Oduro Francis” affectionately known as “Buzy,” who died in a horrifying road accident on Monday, May 12, 2025. The incident occurred at Asin Praso on the Kumasi-Cape Coast road, involving a Yutong bus with registration number 5136-11 and a tipper truck registered BA 2267-14. Both vehicles were headed in opposite directions when they violently collided in what has been described as a gory crash.
According to information gathered by GH Educate Media through family sources, Francis was returning from Cape Coast where he had attended the funeral of a close friend over the weekend. It was on his return journey this tragedy strucked and has cut short the life of a man many describe as committed, joyful, and selfless. Francis was not only a dedicated professional teacher serving at “Krobo” in the Asante Mampong municipality in the Ashanti region but also a strong pillar in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. He served as the District YPG President (Young People’s Guild), ones a local President and Presbytery executive where he was widely respected for his leadership and spiritual commitment.
His death has deeply affected the educational and religious communities. In schools, he was known for his passion and devotion to nurturing young minds. In the church, he was a unifier and a guide for the youth who led programs and offering counsel with humility and grace. The tragic loss of such a promising and multi faceted individual has revived calls for stricter road safety measures and reforms across the country. Communities are demanding urgent interventions to prevent future tragedies on Ghana’s highways.
As investigations is underway into the cause of the accident, friends, family, students, and congregants are left in mourning. Friends and loved ones have shared their condelences to the family.
