2025 Budget: Ghana Announces the Abolishment of the Following Taxes

The 2025 Budget, presented by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, announced the abolition of certain taxes.

According to the Finance Minister, the taxes that have been removed burdened the Ghanaian citizenry and needed to be eliminated with immediate effect.

Abolished Taxes Include:

  • Abolition of the 1.5% withholding tax on unprocessed gold by small-scale miners to support the growth of the mining sector and empower local miners.
  • Scrapping of the 10% betting tax, ensuring fairness for the youth and businesses in the gaming industry.
  • Elimination of the 1% E-Levy, easing the financial burden on Ghanaians and promoting digital transactions.
  • Removal of the emission levy, protecting businesses and consumers from unnecessary costs.

Dr. Ato Forson stressed that the removal of these taxes will help reduce the economic hardship faced by Ghanaians.
