ACP Kofi Sarpong Advocates for Gospel And Secular Collaborations

Assistant Commissioner of Police and renowned gospel musician, ACP Kofi Sarpong has expressed his openness to collaborating with secular artists and has emphasized the unifying power of music. During an interview on The Career Trail program on Joy Learning TV and JoyNews, he stated, “If the opportunity comes, I will not hesitate or if the time comes, I will not hesitate at all.”

Sarpong views music as a universal language that transcends boundaries and serves a wide range of human experiences, proverbs, advice, and motivation. He believes that both gospel and secular music share common elements as they reflect daily life and societal values. He noted, “All these words that we put together and put rhythm on it to become music are all languages that we speak or things that we experience.”

Acknowledging the appeal of secular music, Sarpong admitted that some secular songs possess irresistible beats that captivate listeners. He emphasized that his approach is not to judge secular artists but to engage with them and offer the gospel message through collaboration. He stated, “If we are to do something that will especially encourage the youth and motivate others, I will do.”

This perspective aligns with his previous statements where he endorsed collaborations between secular and gospel artists and cited the example of dancehall artist Shatta Wale approaching him for a joint project.

Sarpong’s stance reflects a progressive approach to music and advocating for unity and collaboration across genres to inspire and uplift audiences.
