The Science Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service, in collaboration with the Ghana Olympiad Academy, is organizing a Science and Technology competition for schools across Ghana.
Schools across the country are invited to participate in the 2024 GH-STEM Olympiad, organized by the Ghana Olympiad Academy in collaboration with the Science Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
This invitation was contained in a letter signed by Mrs. Olivia Serwaa Opare, Director of the National STEM Resource Unit of the Ghana Education Service.

This annual event provides an opportunity for students in Grade 9 (JHS 3) to Grade 11 (SHS 2) to showcase their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through internationally recognized Olympiad exams and competitions.
Eligibility and Participation
The competition is open to students from Grade 9 (JHS 3) to Grade 11 (SHS 2). Schools are allowed to nominate up to five of their top-performing students to compete in three key areas: Biology, Chemistry, and Information Technology.
Competition Structure
- First Round: October 11th-12th, 2024 (Online, proctored exam consisting of 100 questions to be answered in 60 minutes)
- Semi-Final and Final Round: October 26th, 2024 (In-person event with multimedia tests and hands-on STEM projects)
Registration Details
Registration for the competition is free, and students can participate using a laptop, desktop, or tablet with a stable internet connection. Schools can register their students using the following link to fill a very simple registration form online:
Awards and Recognition
Top-performing students from each region will qualify for the national final, where 40 students from public, private, and international schools will compete for the championship title. Prizes for the event include:
- National Championship Plaque for the overall winner
- Medals and Certificates for top performers
- Special Prizes and Goodies from sponsors
- Full Sponsorship for a Global STEM Trip organized by the Ghana Olympiad Academy for the overall champion.
The GES requests all its District, Municipal and Metro Directors of Education to extend the exciting invitation to all Junior and Second Cycle Schools under their respective directorates.

The Ghana Olympiad Academy, working in partnership with the Singapore International Mastery Contest Center (SIMCC), offers Ghanaian students the opportunity to participate in international Olympiad exams. Open to students from Grade 2 to Grade 12, these exams cover Math, ICT, and Science, and provide a platform for students to enhance their STEM skills while competing with over 30,000 students from more than 30 countries. The program aims to develop students’ analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them to excel as global thinkers and innovators.
