WAEC Releases 2025 WASSCE and Its Full Performance Breakdown From 2022 to 2025

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the full 2025 WASSCE (School Candidates) results, providing a detailed breakdown of student performance across the four core subjects. The latest data shows mixed outcomes, with some subjects maintaining stable trends and others recording notable declines.

In English Language, candidates performed strongly, with 69% obtaining grades A1–C6. This places English among the most stable core subjects over the past four years. However, 12.86% of candidates still scored F9, indicating a need for continued attention to literacy development.

Mathematics experienced the most significant drop in high pass rates. Only 48.73% of candidates scored A1–C6, a steep fall from 66.86% in 2024. Additionally, over a quarter of candidates—26.77%—received F9, marking Mathematics as the weakest performance area this year.

Integrated Science presented moderate results, with 57.74% of students earning grades A1–C6. While slightly lower than previous years, the subject remains one of the more stable components of the WASSCE core curriculum.

Social Studies recorded a 55.82% pass rate at grades A1–C6, but also had the highest failure rate among the core subjects, with 27.50% of candidates obtaining F9. This decline stands out sharply when compared with the consistently strong performance recorded in earlier years.

A review of the four-year trends from 2022 to 2025 highlights fluctuating performance patterns across the subjects. English Language has remained relatively stable, while Mathematics and Social Studies show noticeable downward shifts requiring targeted intervention.

WAEC has encouraged stakeholders including teachers, school leaders, and policymakers to study the trends carefully and strengthen support systems to improve outcomes in future examinations.
