Transfer of Albert Amoah of Asante Kotoko football club Shocks fans

ALBERT AMOAH OF ASANTE KOTOKO

Asante Kotoko has permanent transfer of rising striker Albert Amoah to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, following their 6–1 aggregate exit in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The 23-year-old frontman, who arrived at Kotoko from Great Olympics, penned a two-year deal with the Libyan giants.

Kotoko stated the move officially “once an agreement was signed and sealed.”

The striker reportedly impressed in Ghana, having scored 16 goals in 30 league matches for Kotoko.

He was also influential in the MTN FA Cup and showcased his talent on the continental stage despite Kotoko’s exit.

Libyan media report the transfer fee was around US$200,000.

Some Kotoko supporters have expressed frustration at the timing of the announcement, coming right after the Wydad defeat.

Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, explained that no deal had been finalized before the trip to Morocco and that the sale was driven by financial pressures.

He added the club is increasingly relying on player sales as key revenue sources amid sponsorship challenges.

Kotoko officially thanked Amoah for his service and wished him success in his new chapter.
