President John Dramani Mahama has expressed deep sorrow following the death of renowned Ghanaian musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba.
In a solemn tribute, President Mahama described the highlife icon as a musical genius whose songs transcended generations and touched the hearts of millions.
“I have learnt with great sadness of the passing of Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, fondly known as Daddy Lumba. His unique voice and artistry provided a rich soundtrack to our lives through moments of joy, reflection, love and resilience,” President Mahama stated.
“Though the music may fall silent, his legacy will continue to echo through our hearts and our history. His songs defined an era and gave expression to the stories of ordinary people. We have lost a national treasure,” The President added.
The President extended the heartfelt sympathies of the government and people of Ghana to Daddy Lumba’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
“On behalf of the Government of Ghana, I offer my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all Ghanaians who mourn the loss of this exceptional talent. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” President Mahama.
Daddy Lumba was one of Ghana’s most celebrated musical icons, with a career spanning more than three decades. He was beloved for his poetic lyrics, memorable melodies, and unwavering contribution to the highlife genre.
