Ghana’s police have launched a manhunt for armed robbers who shot and killed two plainclothes officers near Poyamirea, a community in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
The officers were reportedly riding a motorbike from Bongo to Binduri when they were ambushed and shot. The attackers then fled with the motorbike, leaving both officers dead at the scene.
In an official statement, Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the victims and their colleagues.

“The Police Administration wishes to express its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Regional Commander, as well as all officers and men in the region. Our hearts and prayers are with you,” the statement said.
The police have not yet released the names of the deceased, as families are still being notified. A special team has been deployed to track down the suspects.
This tragedy adds to growing concerns over the safety of officers in the line of duty, especially in remote areas facing rising crime.
