Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, recently visited Drobonso to inspect major projects in the Drobonso District.
Among the projects he visited was the Drobonso Senior High School (Drobonso SHS).
According to reports, the Regional Minister’s observations have raised serious concerns for him and his government, prompting immediate attention and action.
“During my visit to Drobonso SHS, I was deeply concerned to learn that about 190 students had been posted to the school despite the facility being uninhabitable,” stated the Regional Minister.

He indicated that the assessment revealed several critical issues, including:
- The theft of over 170 light poles meant to serve the school (currently under investigation).
- Bee and insect infestations.
- Encroachment by cattle and goats.
- Classrooms being used as maize storage.
- The deterioration of buildings and school desks.
In response to these issues, the Ashanti Regional Minister outlined the following actions:
- All posted students will be reassigned to other schools.
- A meeting has been scheduled with the contractor and educational heads to ensure work resumes and is completed.
- The ECG has been invited to explore connecting the school to the national grid.
- Road and transportation concerns will be addressed before the project’s completion.

Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that his government and H.E. John Dramani Mahama remains committed to ensuring the completion of Drobonso SHS to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for students as soon as possible.
