On Thursday, 15th August 2024, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana, officially commissioned the rehabilitated and refurbished Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s healthcare development.

In his address, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the importance of the newly revamped facility, describing it as a demonstration to the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian has access to quality healthcare. He stressed that the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital is now equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Upper East Region. Among the new additions are a modern mothers’ hostel, staff accommodation, and a cutting-edge medical gas building, all of which will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide comprehensive care.

President Akufo-Addo took the opportunity to reflect on the broader achievements of his administration in the health sector. He noted that over 202,000 healthcare professionals have been recruited, a move aimed at bolstering the capacity of Ghana’s healthcare system. Additionally, the National Health Insurance Scheme has been revitalized, ensuring that it continues to serve the needs of the population effectively. The President also mentioned the expansion of hospital infrastructure nationwide, emphasizing that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare delivery across the country.
