Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s Apology Statement to the General Public on Your Kwame Nkrumah Issue

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), the running mate to the presidential candidate of the NPP, has issued an apology statement: “I did not mean to denigrate former President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah or any other president.”

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh made a comparison, saying that no president has developed Ghana like President Akufo-Addo, not even your Kwame Nkrumah.

This statement has raised a lot of concerns and reactions from many, eventually prompting him to respond with a letter of apology to the general public.

According to the letter, Dr. Opoku Prempeh indicated that his statement last Tuesday, 9th July, in Kumasi on the performance of President Akufo-Addo has elicited varied reactions.

The statement reflects my personal opinion about President Akufo-Addo’s impact relative to other Presidents we have had.

I wish to emphasize that I never meant to disrespect our former President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, or any of our former heads of state, including my own grand uncle and mentor, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor, Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated
